FAQs

Difference between white and brown rice?

Brown rice is a whole grain. That means it contains all parts of the grain — including the fibrous bran, the nutritious germ and the carb-rich endosperm. White rice, on the other hand, has had the bran and germ removed, which are the most nutritious parts of the grain.

Are you organic?

We are not certified but do implement organic practices throughout. We haven't used synthetic fertilizers since purchasing the farm fully in 2000 and employ the use of compost teas we make ourselves to improve soil health.

Is the pecan spread raw?

Our pecan spread isn't raw, we lightly roast the pecans to release all their natural oils

What is dryland rice?

Dryland rice is a method of growing a particular type of upland rice without the aid of irrigation. It relies solely on rainfall, a benefit of our area. Rice is the world’s most common staple crop and traditional production methods demand more water than any other agricultural enterprise. As water becomes scarce with our ever changing climate, we think the introduction of dryland farming in biologically rich farming systems to be an important one, and one we want to continue to invest in and support.

Can we buy your products from the farm?

At this stage we don’t sell via the farm gate. This may change in the future but you can find us at local farmers markets in the area on a weekly basis.
